Bridgerton hasn’t started filming yet despite the internet thinking otherwise

Netflix has given us some disheartening news that certain shows and movies won’t be released this year. With that also comes amazing news of projects that will be released or at least start filming in 2021. Bridgerton fans had some excitement this week when Luke Newton, who plays Colin Bridgerton, posted some season one photos on his IG page.
Fans and media alike all thought his post, which was captioned “The boys are back,” meant that filming had indeed started for the second season. Newton edited the post to add hashtags #throwback #season1 so that things could be clarified, that filming has not started, yet.
The first photo shows Newton and his onscreen brother Benedict, played by Luke Thompson, on horseback. The second showed Thompson and Jonathan Bailey, who plays the eldest Bridgerton brother, Anthony.
Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington, posted, “Not Yet! Wigs and dresses yet to be made but soon!” To further clarify that although filming hasn’t started it will be happening SOON!
What will the second season of Bridgerton have in store for fans?
The second season of the wildly popular Bridgerton series will focus on Lord Anthony Bridgerton and his quest for a viscountess. It was announced that Simone Ashley would star in the second season as Kate Sharma, who in the books is Anthony’s love interest.
Kate’s name in the books is Kate Sheffield, but the series has given Kate the last name of Sharma since she is of Indian descent. The showrunners continue to break boundaries with its diverse cast, to the delight of everyone.
Season two is focused on Anthony, but as in the first season, there will be storylines for other siblings as well. Deadline has reported that showrunner Chris Van Dusen has stated there will be the introduction of new characters in this season.
"“We have a bunch of new characters we are going to be introducing. Anthony is going to have a love interest next season, and I think it’s going to be as sweeping and moving and as beautiful as viewers of the first season have come to expect from the show.”"
Van Dusen also stated we will see more of the Duke and Duchess of Hastings, whose love story we watched during the first season.
The Bridgerton series is set in a classical Regency Romance era that has been laid out in novels by many authors. Bridgerton marks the first mass-market paperback romance novels to be adapted into a series. This series isn’t your typical “period drama,” this series is much more diverse and melds the Regency with the modern era beautifully.
