The film Hillbilly Elegy received a nomination for Best Makeup and Hairstyling and Best Actress in a Supporting role for Glenn Close. She also received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance.

What is Hillbilly Elegy about?

The Netflix movie is based on the memoir of the same name by J.D. Vance was directed by Ron Howard and written by Vanessa Taylor. The narrative follows the story of a young Yale Law student who is forced to return to his Ohio hometown, where he reflects on three generations of his family’s history while also looking ahead to his future.

Amy Adams stars in the feature film as J.D.’s mom Beverly “Bev” Vance with Close, who plays Bonnie “Mamaw” Vance J.D.’s grandmother, in a supporting role. Gabriel Basso plays J.D. Vance in the movie. Also in Hillbilly elegy’s cats is Haley Bennett, Freida Pinto, and Bo Hopkins.
