There’s some bittersweet news, Lucifans. While Lucifer season 6 hasn’t officially wrapped filming yet, we’re getting very close.

Some of our favorite cast members have already started saying their goodbyes on social media. According to Lucifer writer Chris Rafferty, Kevin Alejandro is directing the penultimate episode.

In a recent Instagram post Lesley-Ann Brandt, who plays fierce demon Maze, shared the bittersweet news that she’s shot the last Lucifer/Maze scene with Tom Ellis in episode 9. We know it’s the penultimate episode because she thanks Alejandro for “giving us freedom to just be present.”

Check out the Instagram post below:

I know everyone. I’m trying to hold it together too.

Is Lucifer season 6 done filming?

It’s not clear if Brandt has officially wrapped filming, or if this is just her last scene with Ellis. Either way, it’s got the tears springing to my eyes.

D.B. Woodside, who plays the angelic Amenadiel, also recently tweeted he’s in the last week of filming. It seems like his last scenes will be with his brother. Take deep breaths, everyone.

And on March 9, Rachael Harris, who plays the smart Dr. Linda, shared her own Instagram post talking about approaching the final weeks of filming.

Based on episode 9’s title, “Goodbye, Lucifer,” I have a feeling those sneaky writers are referring to not only the end of the series, but possibly saying goodbye to some of our favorite characters sooner than we thought – cue the waterworks.

It’s very possible that Amenadiel, Maze and Linda will have their final curtain calls in the penultimate episode and we won’t even see them in the last one. This is just a guess though, so there’s still hope!

Those devilish writers still haven’t revealed what episode 10, aka the series finale, is called. We have no hints as to what could possible be coming in the last episode. I mean if episode 9 is called “Goodbye, Lucifer,” what in the devil’s name can we expect for the last!?

A bittersweet end

Getting to this point certainly feels bittersweet. On one hand, us fans really have been on a rollercoaster of emotion when it comes to the fate of this show. First Fox canceled it, then Netflix picks it up and we’re told it’ll end with season 5. But wait – then we’re told we get one more season. That’s enough surprises, thank you very much. I don’t think my heart can take anymore!

It’s really sad our favorite show is coming to an end and I know just how much we’re going to miss it. But on the other hand like Woodside said in his tweet, I’m so happy it’s ending in the way the writers want and in a way that will feel like everything is resolved for us fans.

It’s the worst feeling to get invested in a show and then have it get canceled on a cliffhanger or with so many questions left unanswered (which almost happened to us. Yeah, thanks Fox). We’re going to end on a high note and that’s all we can ask for.

Filming is almost done, but we still have Lucifer season 5B (whenever we get an announcement – get a move on that, please!), and 10 episodes of Lucifer season 6 to look forward to. I’m saving my tears for when that time comes. In the meantime the Lucifer journey isn’t over just yet!

How do you feel about Lucifer season 6 filming almost coming to a wrap? Have the tears started for you yet? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
