Is Vikings: Valhalla coming in 2021?

Vikings: Valhalla is the Vikings spin-off many are excited about. It’s coming to Netflix, but will it arrive in 2021? When will it debut on Netflix?

Michael Hirst’s final episodes of Vikings dropped on Amazon Prime Video at the end of 2020. It was certainly sad to say goodbye to many of the characters we’d come to know and love, but the universe isn’t coming to an end.

The spin-off is coming to Netflix. It will have Hirst still involved, with Jeb Stuart also involved. Of course, the biggest question is when the series will arrive to watch.

What is Vikings: Valhalla about?

The new series won’t include any of the main characters left at the end of the HISTORY series, except for John Kavanaugh’s Seer. He did start appearing in dreams of the characters, so it opens the opportunity to bring him back in the spin-off. There are a few other characters with a more supernatural element to their character that will return.

Vikings: Valhalla is set 100 years after the events of the finale.

The good news is that it’s still set in many of the same places, including Kattegat. The place that was once home of Ragnar, Lagertha, and Bjorn is now a huge trading place for Europeans. The Vikings have taken over the majority of Europe now, and Kattegat is one of the biggest trading ports.

However, the Viking era is almost at an end. Edward the Confessor is dead and now three Lords all have a claim to the English throne. They are ready to stand up against the intruders.

When is Vikings: Valhalla coming out?

The series was originally set for a 2021 release. The bad news is the production went on hiatus at the end of November 2020, according to What’s On Netflix. There’s been no word on production starting back up since.

Production delays aren’t surprising right now. The pandemic has caused a lot of problems for filming. Depending on how far into the season the show was filmed and how soon production can start again.

There is still a slim chance we could see the spin-off arrive by the end of 2021. We’ll know more when production restarts.

Stay tuned for the latest on Vikings: Valhalla on Netflix.
