5 must-see movies on Netflix this weekend: Moxie and more
It’s a new weekend, which means time to catch up on all those movies on Netflix last week. Moxie is the top pick of must-see movies this weekend.
There aren’t many Netflix Original Movies to pick this weekend. In fact, there’s only one on the list because the majority of originals during the week were TV shows.
However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t something good to watch. Whether you like movies that have a powerful meaning or you need a dystopian future movie that you’ll happily watch over and over again, you’re covered for the weekend.
There were a lot of great movies on Netflix that arrived on March 1. We’re picking out the must-see options depending on your interests in movies.
5 good movies on Netflix this weekend: March 6–7
Moxie
We start with the Netflix original. Moxie arrived during the week, and there’s absolutely no excuse to avoid it this weekend. It’s something for everyone, bringing up some of the most sexist and misogynistic elements of high school life and calling people out for it.
There are questions at the end. The lead character, Vivian, has some bad moments. But everything works together as a movie that will hopefully inspire a generation. Oh, and it’s funny.
Batman Begins
Love Batman? Christopher Nolan brought us an excellent trilogy, and the first two of that trilogy is back on Netflix. It’s not clear how long for this time, so why not jump into the movies on Netflix this weekend.
The first two movies are available. While Batman Begins is the best place to start to get to know Christian Bale’s version of The Dark Knight, it’s the second movie, titled The Dark Knight, that is arguably the best of all three movies.
Dances With Wolves
If you haven’t seen Dances With Wolves yet or you know someone who hasn’t, this is the chance to watch it. It’s one of the greatest movies of all time, telling the story of life before the Civil War for the Native tribes.
A Union soldier comes across a tribe and forms a bond with them. Preferring the simple life of the tribe, he is adopted into it and gets the name Dances With Wolves. We get to experience the tribe’s culture through his eyes, but there’s always that feeling of disaster striking.
I Am Legend
Speaking of disaster, one of the movies on Netflix to watch is one you’ve likely seen hundreds of times before. It’s just that good. Will Smith made it clear that he could do serious acting in I Am Legend.
There are going to be elements that feel like the world today. Smith’s character is isolated from everyone. His cancer vaccine has unintended side effects that lead to vampire-zombie creatures destroying the world. All he has is a dog to keep him company as he tries to find a cure for the side effects.
The Pursuit of Happyness
Will Smith has another movie you’ll want to watch this weekend on Netflix. The Pursuit of Happyness is available again, and this one sees Smith star with his son, Jaeden Smith.
It’s a meaningful movie about a man who is left homeless and without a job. He has to raise his son, and so he takes on an unpaid internship to make something of his life. The aim is to teach his son about the good things in life, and how hard work pays off.
