Based on the play Le Père by Florian Zeller, The Father is a unique film in that it was co-written and directed by the same man who penned the source material. Starring Anthony Hopkins, it’s is a film about an aging man whose struggle with memory loss leads to his adult daughter moving in with him.

The Father also features the talents of Olivia Colman, an actress who I cannot compliment enough. Coleman was hilarious on Fleabag and her performance in The Crown as Queen Elizabeth II was amazing. I first became a fan of Coleman’s after seeing her star alongside Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz in The Favourite, but she became one of my favorite actresses after seeing her as Ellie Miller in Broadchurch.

The cast of The Father also includes Mark Gatiss, Imogen Poots, Rufus Sewell, and Olivia Williams. The film sadly did not win any Golden Globes at this year’s ceremony, however it was nominated for four, including Best Motion Picture – Drama.

If you’re wondering whether or not the movie is on Netflix, then you’ve clicked on the right article. We have the answer for you below.
