Netflix shares first look at The Shadow Fold in new Shadow and Bone trailer

The first Shadow and Bone trailer has finally arrived. It is epic; there’s no other way to describe the new Netflix original series based on the Shadow and Bone trilogy and Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo.

Netflix shared the first trailer for the new series at IGN Fan Fest 2021. After the trailer dropped, the main cast, Bardugo, and showrunner Eric Heisserer were featured in a panel discussion about the new series.

Jessie Mei Li, Ben Barnes, Archie Renaux, Freddy Carter, Amita Suman, and Kit Young star in the series and participated in the panel.

Shadow and Bone premieres on Netflix on April 23, 2021.

In the trailer, we meet Alina Starkov, played by Mei Li. Alina is a cartographer with the Ravkan army. When she and other soldiers enter The Shadow Fold, a dark rift in the country full of monsters, her caravan is attacked. Alina, then, taps some previously unknown power and saves herself.

The action draws the attention of General Kirigan, played by Ben Barnes. He’s the leader of the Ravkan forces with powers of his own.

From there, we see this whole world open up. There’s magic, politics, major battle sequences, and oh, so much more. I think we’re in for a treat!

We’re also introduced to a number of major characters in the trailer. We see Mal, Alina’s best friend, played by Archie Reneaux, and he doesn’t look too thrilled about what’s happening with Alina.

We also get to meet, for the first time, Jesper (Kit Young), Kaz Brekker (Freddy Carter), and Inej (Amita Suman). Keep an eye on this trio. They’ll surely be the fan favorites.

I don’t think I can adequately describe how excited I am for this show. I loved the books so much, and I had super high hopes for the Netflix series. After seeing the trailer, I’m stunned! I don’t know if the trailer could be any better, honestly.

We see a lot of big, cool trailers, but this is my favorite in a very, very long time, if not ever.
