Cobra Kai never dies, and Cobra Kai season 4 is underway!
The Cobra Kai team announced on Friday that season 4 of the Netflix original series was officially in production via their Instagram page. The caption of the photo read: “There’s no more time for training. Season 4 is officially underway.”
The third season of the series dropped on January 1, 2021, and most fans binged it in one full day. Since coming over to Netflix, Cobra Kai has exploded on the scene and has become one of Netflix’s most beloved shows.
The success and love for the show allowed the series to greenlight a fourth season. Netflix announced that Cobra Kai was coming back for a fourth season before season three even dropped. That just goes to show you how much confidence Netflix has in the series.
What’s next in Cobra Kai season 4?
Along with the announcement that season 4 is underway, it was also announced that Peyton List and Vanessa Rubio were promoted to season regulars, meaning you’ll be seeing a lot more of their characters in season 4, according to TV Line.
Netflix does a pretty good job of keeping things tight-lipped about their upcoming shows and releasing certain details. We don’t exactly know what the plot will be for season four but we have a pretty good idea based on how season 3 ended.
It felt like for most of the first three seasons, Johnny and Daniel had an up-and-down relationship. As soon as things would start to be settle between them, something would happen to have them at odds again, to the point of fighting each other in Johnny’s apartment.
We know that Johnny and Daniel are teaming up to face off against John Kreese and Cobra Kai at the All Valley tournament. With Johnny’s son Robby apart of the Cobra Kai team, this father and son are at odds once again. With all of the tension between Johnny and Daniel still, you can expect those two to bump heads throughout season 4.
I’m sure there will be major things that happen throughout season4 but as of now, we only know of the basics.
When is Cobra Kai season 4 coming out?
This is the million-dollar question that fans want to know. The truth is, we don’t exactly know. With COVID-19 protocols still in place for all shows and movies that are currently in production and filming, things seem to be going slower than normal.
In a normal non-covid situation, filming for Cobra Kai usually takes about 4-6 months to film. This isn’t a lot of time compared to other shows such as Stranger Things, but Cobra Kai has a run time of 30 minutes an episode compared to the 50-60 minute range for most other shows.
With that being said, I would say a safe bet would be January 2022, afull year after season 3 was released. Netflix likes that time frame for a lot of its shows, although there shows that take a lot longer, but it doesn’t seem likely that Cobra Kai season 4 will be on Netflix in 2021.
There are still a lot of unknowns when it comes to Cobra Kai season 4, but the good news is production is officially underway!
