The Irregulars season 1 release date, cast, synopsis, trailer and more

The world of Sherlock Holmes is back but in a way we’ve never seen before. The Irregulars season 1 takes the world of 221B Baker Street and flips it on its head with some supernatural elements. Netflix officially announced the show awhile ago but now we have a teaser and a release date.

Instead of focusing on the famous detective and his trusty doctor companion, this time it’s all about the Irregulars, Holmes’ rag-tag gang of spies who get information for him around the streets of London.

They appear in several of the original Holmes’ stories by Arthur Conan Doyle as the Baker Street Irregulars but now they are getting center stage and fighting supernatural criminals! That’s not to say Sherlock and Watson aren’t involved, they just take a back seat to the Irregulars.

The Irregulars season 1 release date on Netflix

Netflix has announced that the release date for The Irregulars season 1 is Friday, March 26, 2021. As a fan of anything related to Sherlock Holmes, I am very they’re not making us wait longer for this to come out.

The show was originally announced almost three years ago and began filming at the end of 2019, but production was stopped due to the pandemic. Luckily, it got up and running again in September 2020 and we get to see the show this March!

The Irregulars season 1 cast

The cast for season 1 of The Irregulars was first announced all the way back in Dec 2019. The show will star Thaddea Graham, Darci Shaw, Jojo Macari, McKell David, Sheila Atim, Mark Hugh-Williams, and Harrison Osterfeld.

Graham plays Bea, the leader of the Irregulars while Shaw stars as her younger sister, Jessie. Macari plays their friend Billy, McKell their friend Spike, and Osterfield rounds out the gang as the newcomer, Leopold.

Holmes and Watson will be played by Henry Lloyd-Hughes and Royce Pierreson, respectively.

The Irregulars season 1 synopsis

While we don’t know the exact specifics of what we’re going to see in this series, the official synopsis from Netflix does give us a pretty good idea. Delinquent teens fighting supernatural beings and saving the world? Yes, please!

Set in Victorian London, the series follows a gang of troubled delinquent teens who are manipulated into solving crimes for the sinister Doctor Watson and his mysterious business partner. As the crimes take on a horrifying supernatural edge and a dark power emerges, it’ll be up to the Irregulars to come together to save London, each other, and potentially the entire world.

Beyond that, it looks like Doctor Watson isn’t so nice in this portrayal. The Watson we’ve seen in the past could never be called “sinister.” Maybe Holmes isn’t everything he seems either?? It will be really interesting to see how this plays out in the show.

The Irregulars season 1 trailer

While we don’t have an official trailer for The Irregulars just yet, we do have a teaser for the first season!

The voiceover is quite haunting. “You think you’ve seen horror. You know nothing of what it means to be afraid.” Where do I sign up?

We’ll let you know more about The Irregulars season 1 when we hear about it. Stay tuned for more information on this new take into the world of Sherlock Holmes.
