Don’t those Marvel series on Netflix cancellations still sting? Even though we’re starting to see the fruits of the Marvel transition back over to Disney come to brilliant fruition (shout out to WandaVision), many fans probably still miss the Defenders that had their own shows on Netflix. Rather than lament the loss of all of them, let’s focus on obvious standout Jessica Jones.

Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, Jessica Jones stars Krysten Ritter as the titular former superhero, who takes her talents to her own detective agency in New York City. The series found Jessica Jones working as a private investigator and taking on formidable opponents, including the likes of Kilgrave (David Tennant) and her stepsister Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor).

Jessica Jones was not only becoming the next big Marvel sensation outside of the theatrical universe, but it also landed the praise of critics. The series was often lauded for its handling of tough themes, all brought to the surface by Ritter’s excellent performance. Netflix may not have had much of a choice in the matter, but it should still feel some type of way about kicking Jessica Jones to the curb.
