Is Gypsy canceled?

If you have taken a peek under any Netflix tweet in the past three to four years, then you’re aware of a handful of canceled series fans continue to ride hard for, many of which compile our top five of this list. While some might believe it’s a fool’s errand to nag a network or streamer about a series that has ended, keeping the memory of shows like Gypsy alive could never hurt. Stranger things have happened in the world of television reboots and revivals.

Naomi Watts headlined the psychological thriller as Jean Holloway, a New York City psychologist, who uses an alias to push the boundaries of her professional oath and become close with those close to her patients. While tonally in tune with the popular limited series of the time, Gypsy wasn’t intended for a limited run and should have continued Jean’s twisted story for more seasons.

Even with a movie star of Naomi Watts’s caliber in the leading role, Gypsy flew under the radar and ended up underrated. Perhaps its tepid critical reception had something to do with its fizzled mainstream reaction, as a 38% on Rotten Tomatoes doesn’t often send binge-watchers rushing to add it to their watch lists. Still, Gypsy pushed boundaries and meant a lot to so many of its loyal viewers to this day. Netflix should have allowed Watts to soar in more episodes.
