If you want Stranger Things season 4 to be even darker and scarier than previous seasons, Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard has good news for you.

According to a report from NME, Wolfhard teased Stranger Things season 4 as the “darkest season ever” on CBC Listen last week.

Wolfhard’s comments are very much in line with what we’ve heard from other Stranger Things stars, including Joe Keery.

If you like scary, dark stories, you better get ready for Stranger Things season 4.

Will Stranger Things season 4 be even scarier?

It’s kind of hard to imagine Stranger Things season 4 is that much darker than Stranger Things season 3. As Wolfhard notes on CBC Listen, there were “exploding rats” and so much more. Literally, the Mind Flayer’s minion in Hawkins melted people down with chemicals and then used them as part of the larger monster.

Here’s Wolfhard’s full comment on season 4, via CBC Listen:

"“Every season it gets darker. Really, I will say with season 3 I was like, this is the darkest season that there’ll ever be, like the exploding rats and everything. But really, season 4 so far. It’s the darkest season there’s ever been. Every year, it gets amped up. Every year it gets funnier and darker and sadder, and everything. Every year, they amp it up.”"

To me, that was as hard to watch as anything I saw on TV around that time. But, there’s no reason to doubt what Wolfhard and Keery have been saying about Stranger Things season 4.

As Wolfhard points out, every season is getting bigger, darker, and taking things to a whole new level.

I can’t wait to see what Stranger Things season 4 has in store for fans this season. I know it’ll be a long wait until we get to see Stranger Things season 4 on Netflix. That’s what happens when the show had to shut down production for, like, eight months. But, when it arrives, you know it will be so good, especially if it pays off on amping the darkness and horror like the cast has been hyping for the last few months.

We learned from Stranger Things season 4 star Sherman Augustus that production could last into the summer, which would probably push the release date back to 2022. But, Augustus commented that they’re “pretty sure” season 4 will be released in 2021. So, that’s a good sign!

We’ll let you know more about Stranger Things season 4 as we find out. For now, start preparing yourselves for the darkest and scariest season to date.
