We might have a long wait ahead of us for Bridgerton season 2, but NBC is about to give Regé-Jean Page fans something to celebrate!

Hot on the heels of his breakout role as Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings in Netflix’s hit Shondaland produced period drama, Page has been tapped to serve as the host of Saturday Night Live‘s next new episode set to air Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021.

As you might have guessed, this will be Page’s first time hosting SNL making him the latest in a stretch of actors to make their Studio 8H debut in 2021 following in the footsteps of John Krasinski (Jack Ryan), Dan Levy (Schitt’s Creek) and Regina King (Watchmen). He’ll be joined by musical guest Bad Bunny, whose album El Ultimo Tour del Mundo became the first all-Spanish-language album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

Page has been on quite a roll after the debut of Bridgerton on Christmas Day last year, securing a well-earned Screen Actor Guild Award and NAACP Image Award for his performance. The role has also created a lot of buzz surrounding upcoming projects including petitions for Page to play the next James Bond.

Will Regé-Jean Page spoof Bridgerton on Saturday Night Live?

Of course, one of the biggest questions on the minds of Bridgerton fans is whether Page might revisit his character of Simon in a Saturday Night Live sketch inspired by the series. Although we’ll have to wait until the episode airs live, we imagine NBC won’t want to pass up the chance to tap into the success of Netflix’s breakout drama with a sketch inspired by the series.

What might be most interesting to see is if Saturday Night Live merely finds a way to spoof the series with a play on the show in a more general sense, or if Page might step back into Simon’s shoes for a more direct spoof.

We’ll also have to keep an eye out to see if Page is joined by any of his Bridgerton co-stars, as Saturday Night Live does enjoy a good surprise cameo!
