Feb. 13 is all about female friendships. You’ll want to celebrate that this weekend with some great Netflix movies.

Okay, so you may be looking for romance for the end of the weekend. There are plenty of people writing about that! And not all of us need one day of the year for romance. We’re about romance every single day of the year!

We want to do Galentine’s Day instead. It’s all about female friends. The ones who help us get out of slumps after breakups and the ones that remind us that we are worthy. Great female friends will hold your hair back when you puke after a night of drinking and will help you get revenge when it’s deserved.

So, these are the relationships to celebrate this weekend. And we have just the movies to do that.

5 must-watch Netflix movies this Galentine’s Day

Someone Great

What do you do when you’re dumped by a long-term boyfriend? Jenny Young needs to figure that out in Someone Great, and her best friends are more than willing to help her do just that.

She’s leaving New York for San Francisco, but her friends want to make sure she gets to paint New York red. They’re going to make sure she has fun while she does it.

Wine Country

Six friends head to Napa Valley, California to celebrate a 50th birthday. That pretty much tells you everything that you need to know about this movie.

It’s one of those where these middle-aged women are rediscovering themselves, their friendships with each other, and what they’ve achieved in their lives. Wine Country has an outstanding cast that includes Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, and Ana Gasteyer.

The Half of It

There’s a little bit of romance in this movie. After all, it’s about a girl who likes another girl all while writing love letters pretending to be a boy who also likes the girl. In the end, the two girls strike up a friendship, but could there be something more?

At the same time, the boy gets to know the girl he hired to write letters and realizes that maybe he likes her more. Confused yet?

And that’s just simplifying the whole movie. The Half of It should have been a much bigger release than it was in 2020, and it’s one of the Netflix movies you need to watch this weekend.

How to Get Over a Breakup

When a copywriter ends up with a broken heart, she decides to turn to her work to get over the breakup. And this isn’t just delving deeper into her pile of work, but to use the work to her advantage. She decides to write a blog about how to get over a breakup.

Cue all the female friendships within the movie. With the right type of friends, you can get over everything. So, get on that Zoom call with your girlfriends and watch the movie together this Galentine’s Day.

To All the Boys: Always and Forever

Okay, so I’ve ended with the big YA rom-com that’s dropped on Netflix, but it’s actually worth your time for Galentine’s Day. You see, this movie isn’t just about Lara Jean and Peter. This one gives LJ a chance to discover herself, and it’s with the help of her sisters and her best friend.

LJ needs to see if long-distance can work. She needs to figure out if she really wants to go to Stanford for herself or just for a boy. Yeah, there’s still romance, but it’s not just about the romance.
