Best romantic movies and shows on Netflix

With Valentine’s Day here again and most of us still stuck in the house, it’s a great time to watch all those romantic movies and shows you missed or rewatch the ones you loved. Luckily, Netflix has quite a few of them so it makes it easy to binge them all day long.

Since Valentine’s Day is coming up soon, you can just chill out and relax with your special someone and watch all the romantic movies and TV shows.

But romantic can be a bit of a misnomer. Romance, at least in movies and shows, doesn’t always mean there is a happy ending or that you’re not going to cry your eyes ut at some point. With movies like A Walk to Remember or Remember Me or Carol, there are plenty of devastating moments along with the happy and romantic ones.

Romance can also contain some humor. We all love the rom-com for a reason. So whether you’re watching Alway Be My Maybe, Runaway Bride, Ibiza, or The Lovebirds, there are plenty of laughs along with the love.

And romance would be nothing without a bit of history or a period piece or two. With shows like Bridgerton and Outlander, you can spend hours immersed in history while you follow the couples we have all come to know and love. Based on how popular these shows are, historical romance with a good helping of sex is not going anywhere.

Whether you like a happily ever after, a sad ending, a funny, relatable relationship, or a romance that takes place centuries ago, Netflix has you covered. Let’s take a look at 35 romantic movies and shows you can watch on Netflix to ensure love is in the air.

1. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

This list could not exist without one of Netflix’s most popular teen rom-coms ever. All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is romantic, fun, and incredibly cute. It’s the perfect film to watch with your special someone. Or the perfect movie to watch to give you hope that you’ll meet your true love soon.

This first movie in the series is based on the first book in the All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series by Jenny Han and tells the story of Lara Jean Covey, a high schooler who writes letters to boys she loves. But she doesn’t send the letters, she puts them into a hatbox in her closet. Her most recent letter is to her sister’s boyfriend, Josh.

One night, Lara Jean’s sister, Kitty, sneaks into her room and sends the letters to all the boys. Yikes! But Lara Jean doesn’t find out until school on Monday when the boys start to confront her. The first to talk to her is Peter Kavinsky. When Lara Jean figures out what happened, she literally faints (relatable).

When she comes to, she notices Josh coming towards her with a letter. To stop him from talking to her, she impulsively kisses Peter. Thus begins Peter and Lara Jean’s plan to fake date so that Peter can get his ex-girlfriend back and Lara Jean can get over her crush on Josh.

As any lover of romance can tell you, fake dating can only lead to the two people having real feelings for each other. But there is plenty of conflict and misunderstandings along the way.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before stars Lana Condor, Noah Centineo, Janel Parrish, Madeleine Arthur, Emilija Baranac, Anna Cathcart, Andrew Bachelor, Israel Broussard, and John Corbett.
