Without further ado, below you will find a list of the best movies to watch if you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day by yourself this year.

Netflix movies to watch if you’re single

1. Julie & Julia

Is there any better combo than Amy Adams and Meryl Streep? Based on My Life in France by Julia Child and Julie & Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously by Julie Powell, the film follows two parallel stories. Julie & Julia jumps between various moments in both women’s lives. In the 1950s, Julia Child falls in love with French cuisine and begins her culinary career. In 2002 New York City, Julie Powell decides to cook her way through Child’s famous cookbook. It’s a feel-good film if there ever was one.

2. Easy A

This is some of Emma Stone’s finest work. Easy A follows a high schooler named Olive Penderghast who decides to embrace a promiscuous reputation after a white lie goes too far. When the rumors get out of control, Olive must get creative in order for the truth to come to light. This film is simply hilarious and features all-star actors like Stanley Tucci, Lisa Kudrow, Patricia Clarkson, Amanda Bynes, Penn Badgley, and Aly Michalka.

3. Becoming

Becoming is a documentary film that follows former first lady Michelle Obama on her book tour for the novel of the same name. Michelle Obama is a huge inspiration to me, so getting to see a glimpse of what she’s like behind the scenes made reading her memoir that much more impactful. If you’re in the mood for some female empowerment this Valentine’s Day, then Becoming is for you.

4. Silver Linings Playbook

Starring Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, and Robert De Niro, Silver Linings Playbook tells the story of Pat and Tiffany, two troubled people who find unexpected comfort in one another. After deciding to participate in a dance competition together, their friendship blossoms into something more despite their differing personalities. The film is based on The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick. This romantic comedy is unique, genuine, and features incredible performances from the two love interests.

5. Eat Pray Love

Based on the memoir of the same name by Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat Pray Love stars Julia Roberts in the leading role. The film follows a newly divorced woman who uproots her life to try and understand the true meaning of happiness. Traveling through Europe and Asia, Elizabeth decides to see what happens when she embraces the unexpected.
