Firefly Lane is one of the must-watch Netflix shows and movies this week

Not only is it a new week, but it’s also a new month. There are some excellent Netflix shows and movies to watch this weekend, including the new series Firefly Lane.

The first of the month has a large selection of movies from the past. Whether you like period war dramas or you want to watch a good thriller, Netflix has you covered. It was hard to pick, but there is one of the movies on here that stands out more than others.

Throughout the week, Netflix will bring plenty of great originals. Some of them were filmed during the pandemic while others were filmed during a mixture of pre- and mid-pandemic. You won’t notice the difference, except for one movie that has a tiny cast.

This list was not easy to put together, but here are the five must-watch Netflix shows and movies for the week.

Firefly Lane

We have to start the list with one of the most anticipated additions to Netflix in February 2021. Everyone wants to check out the first (of hopefully many) season of Firefly Lane.

Somehow missed everything about it? No need to worry; we’ve got you covered.

The series follows Tully and Kate. From their first meeting in 1874 when they were tweens, they were inseparable, despite being the unlikeliest of friends. Tully was the cool girl in school, while Kate was the introvert. Yet together, they were like two peas in a pod.

Throughout the series, we see how their friendship developed and how the bonds strengthened or changed with milestone moments in their lives.

It all leads to one tragedy in the present day.

The series is based on the books of the same name by Kristin Hannah. Book adaptations have become popular for Netflix, so we expect to see this immediately hit the #1 spot on the Top 10 list.

Watch Firefly Lane on Wednesday, Feb. 3.
