Teen shows on Netflix: 4. Anne with an E

In the latest adaptation of L.M. Montgomery’s popular Anne of Green Gables series, Anne Shirley-Cuthbert is just as inquisitive, fanciful, and loquacious as her previous iteration.

After being adopted by siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, Anne throws herself into her studies, her writing, friendships, and the community of Avonlea, Prince Edward Island in an effort to create the life and family she didn’t have in her early childhood.

Anne with an E, however, does not shy away from exploring Anne’s trauma as an abandoned child and the victim of abuse in her orphanage. The series stays true to its depiction of the late 19th century while also tackling topics such as freedom of speech, gender inequality, racism, religion, and identity.

All three seasons of Anne with an E are available to stream.

At 15, Ashley is the youngest robotics engineer and rocket scientist at JPL which is exciting and her dream, but work isn’t the only thing on her mind. After years of being focused on science and studying, Ashley intends to learn how to have a life, too.
