Among the many exciting upcoming releases for Netflix, arguably the title with the most hype surrounding it is The Sandman. Based on the Neil Gaiman dark fantasy comic book of the same name, fans have been anticipating this live-action adaptation for years. As Deadline reports, there were initially plans for a film adaptation with Joseph Gordon Levitt attached to direct and star, before it was eventually decided showrunner Allan Heinberg would lead the series for Netflix.

And apart from the hype around the acclaimed DC comic book being brought to life on the silver screen, fans are also extremely excited to see the impressive cast list. This week, the official casting news dropped, and a few very familiar faces are included. Narcos alum Boyd Holbrook will take on a major role, as will Velvet Buzzsaw star Tom Sturridge. Gwendoline Christie, known best for her portrayal as Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones, will also star, but she’s not the only GoT alum joining the series.
