Directed by Martin Scorsese, Goodfellas premiered in the United States on September 19, 1990. Widely considered one of the best gangster films ever made, Goodfellas was inducted into the National Film Registry by the United States Library of Congress in the year 2000.

Starring Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci, Lorraine Bracco, and Paul Sorvino, the film focuses on the rise and fall of mobster Henry Hill over the course of 25 years. The film was nominated for a grand total of six Academy Awards, ultimately winning three of them.

The film also features the talents of Frank Sivero, Tony Darrow, Mike Starr, Frank Vincent, Chuck Low, Frank DiLeo, Henny Youngman, Gina Mastrogiacomo, Catherine Scorsese, and Charles Scorsese. Goodfellas is actually an adaptation of a nonfiction book by Nicholas Pileggi titled Wiseguy. Pileggi also helped to write the screenplay for the film.

While Goodfellas is currently available to watch on Netflix, it won’t be for much longer. We have more information for you below.
