In the mood for a thriller-mystery movie starring some very famous faces? You might want to check out The Vanished on Netflix.
Starring Thomas Jane, Anne Heche, and Jason Patric, there’s way more to this Peter Facinelli film than meets the eye, but no spoilers here. You’ll have to check out this buzz-worthy flick for yourself. With that said, you likely won’t be the only one.
Currently, The Vanished holds the #10 spot on Netflix’s Top Ten list. Seeing as it just became streamable on January 15, there’s a good chance it’ll continue climbing up the Netflix ranks, week by week. If you’re just learning about the movie, here’s the premise, in a nutshell.
What is The Vanished on Netflix?
Netflix describes the plot as:
"When their daughter disappears during a family vacation, two terrified parents launch their own investigation that soon exposes local secrets."
In a review by The Hollywood Reporter, they note that Facinelli channels the fundamental fear of a child vanishing without a trace and encapsulates it “into a compact, consistently unpredictable thriller that provides few reassurances, but plenty of surprises.”
As The Vanished continues growing in popularity on Netflix, this 2020 film seems to be resonating with critics and audiences alike. Although, not everyone agrees there are “plenty of surprises,” and some critics have deemed certain plot points slightly predictable.
Still, it seems that many who watched The Vanished note that they did not anticipate the “twist ending,” whether they loved it or not. So you’ll have to stream Netflix’s #10 movie to see where you stand when it’s all said and done.
