Is The Serpent on Netflix?
By FS staff
Ready for a truly chilling show about a real-life serial killer? Look no further than BBC’s intense 2021 miniseries The Serpent. Season 1 just dropped on January 1 and already, this true-crime drama has garnered its fair share of praise among critics and audiences alike.
The real question, of course, is: Where can we stream it? But before we get to that, here’s the premise.
What is The Serpent about?
BBC describes the plot as:
"A hidden darkness on Asia’s hippie trail. The twisting, real-life story of a murderer, thief and seductive master of disguise. With Tahar Rahim and Jenna Coleman."
Inspired by true events, this drama miniseries is based on the crime spree of a French thief, fraudster, and famously seductive serial killer who preyed on tourists in the ’70s, Charles Sobhraj. As noted in The Guardian, Sobhraj was nicknamed “The Serpent” because he was “so good at slithering away from the law,” until, of course, he famously and finally got caught.
Is The Serpent streaming on Netflix?
Currently, The Serpent is not available for streaming on Netflix. With that said, you won’t have to look very far to find it. The series is now airing on BBC One. However, the British Netflix co-production will likely make its way to the streaming platform sooner than later.
According to What’s on Netflix?, season 1 of this buzz-worthy series is expected to hit Netflix this coming February or March. And as the publication notes, “Netflix UK will likely get the series eventually but unlikely until a year after it has concluded airing.” So stay tuned.
And in the meantime, be sure to catch The Serpent on BBC One!
