Bridgerton season 2 production start time facing delay

Bridgerton season 2 has yet to be confirmed, but if Phoebe Dynevor’s suspicions are true, it could be some time before production begins again.

While many shows found their schedules shifted and delayed, Bridgerton was one of the lucky few shows which were able to production without any issues. It was a close call though, as filming on season 1 of Netflix’s breakout period drama finished in February 2020, only days before production on several film and television projects was forced to shut down.

Although season 1 was able to complete filming free of delays or COVID-related concerns, Phoebe Dynevor recently spoke with Deadline and seems to fear the show might not be able to get back to filming as soon as Netflix might hope.

"“I can’t imagine how it would be possible to film under these circumstances,” Dynevor shared. “There are so many extras and so many crew members, and it’s a very intimate show. It just baffles me how we would film it under Covid rules unless there was a vaccine beforehand.”"

While Dynevor seems uncertain of the show’s ability to resume production in the near future, Netflix seems to remain optimistic that filming on Bridgerton season 2 could begin as soon as March.

If the series is able to begin production in March as planned, it will be interesting to see what that could mean for the show’s second season release. Given the level of production behind the show, it’s going to be interesting to see if the show can return with a new season by fall 2021, but we definitely remain optimistic.

We’re also optimistic Dynevor will be back to reprise her role of Daphne Bridgerton, even if the show looks to shift its focus onto a new member of the family, that being Daphne’s older brother Anthony — even though Dynevor doesn’t quite know what the future holds.

"“I genuinely have no idea what they’re going to do with the second season, but I imagine if they’re following the books, then it would be Anthony’s journey. I’m sure Daphne will end up getting involved. But yeah, I do wonder what it looks like. I’m excited to find out.”"
