Stranger Things: Rebel Robin coming to bookstores this June

We may not be getting Stranger Things season 4 anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t getting new content.

Over the past couple of years, we’ve gotten two Stranger Things novels providing us with a look into the characters’ past.

The first novel, Suspicious Minds, was all about Terry Ives, Dr. Martin Brenner, and what went on in the Hawkins National Laboratory that brought on the events we saw in the show. The second novel, Darkness on the Edge of Town, gave us an inside look into Jim Hopper’s past after returning from the Vietnam War.

Now we can look forward to a third book and it’s all about everyone’s favorite gay ice cream scooper, Robin Buckley! It’s titled Rebel Robin and will go into how Robin comes to accept her sexuality and learn that the “only person she really needs to be accepted by is herself.”

Check out the cover below!

But before Robin finds acceptance within herself, she thinks the only way she can experience “real life” is by fleeing to Europe for the summer. But with no money and no way her parents are giving her permission to leave Hawkins let alone the country, that’s easier said than done.

Rebel Robin is written by A.R. Capetta and set to come out Tuesday, June 29.

A.R. Capetta is no stranger to writing teen fiction. They wrote The Brilliant Death series as well as the Once and Future series with Cori McCarthy. A lot of their writing features LGBT+ characters, so they seem like the perfect author for a book about Robin.

According to the official synopsis, there will be references to other characters from the show throughout the novel, too. Maybe there will even be a few mentions of her future bestie, Steve Harrington? As we’ve seen in the show, she doesn’t really like him until they fight the Russians together. Hopefully, we’ll get to see how she really felt about him before they started working together. There’s bound to be lots of namecalling!

If we can’t have Robin on our screens in a new season of Stranger Things, a book is the next best thing. The show may not be on for a while because of filming issues due to the coronavirus, but that doesn’t mean we have to be completely without our favorite characters.

I don’t know about you, but I’m definitely adding this to my “must read” list.
