Is Tenet on Netflix?
By D.J. Rivera
Where to watch Tenet
Tenet is one of the biggest films of the dismal 2020 that, despite the odds, managed to rake in $362 million at the box office, making its way into the coveted list of ten of the highest-grossing films of the previous year. Given all the hype and praise surrounding the film from the master of cinema Christophe Nolan, it’s understandable that many people are wondering if Tenet is available on Netflix for subscribers to enjoy.
Nolan, who is notoriously known for such mega-hits as The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, Interstellar, and Dunkirk among several enthralling other endeavors, offers up a stirring sci-fi action thriller with a star-studded cast that takes time travel to a whole other level in what has to be one of the wildest films in the renowned filmmaker’s filmography.
Netflix has been known to get its fair share of award-winning classics to occupy its library, including the likes of Goodfellas, The Departed, and Spring Breakers, so it’s natural for some to hope that the exciting motion picture would be available to stream. So the question remains, is Tenet available on Netflix?
What is Tenet about?
Here is the official synopsis for Tenet:
"Armed with only one word, Tenet, and fighting for the survival of the entire world, a Protagonist journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real time."

Who is in the cast of Tenet?
Tenet has an unbelievably talented cast lead by fantastic performances from Malcolm & Marie’s John David Washington and The Batman’s Robert Pattinson. The Night Manager’s Elizabeth Debicki also steals the show in every scene she is in. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Himesh Patel, Kenneth Branaugh, Dimple Kapadia, Martin Donovan, and Michale Caine, among many talented other individuals making up the well-crafted roster.
Is Tenet streaming on Netflix?
For those hoping they can watch this enticing affair on the streaming service, the news is not ideal. The Nolan film Tenet is not available on Netflix at this time and it doesn’t seem like that is going to change any time soon.
Unless someone sends a message back from the future or inverts themselves to embark on a crazy mission to change Tenet’s distribution plans, it seems very unlikely that the movie will be on Netflix. WarnerMedia has taken drastic steps to gain traction in the streaming wars by putting titles like Wonder Woman 1984, The Matrix 4, and The Suicide Squad on HBO Max while in theaters for a limited time, and it doesn’t seem like they would allow one of their big titles to give viewers a reason to watch their competition’s service.
While it’s not completely insane to imagine a future where Netflix subscribers get to watch The Protagonist go both forward and backward through time in the future, it doesn’t seem all that plausible. For now, it’s best not to keep up one’s hope to be able to watch Tenet on the streaming service any time soon.
Where can you stream Tenet?
Right now, Tenet is available for purchase or rent on most video-on-demand services such as FandangoNow, iTunes, YouTube, Amazon Prime, and Vudu. It is also available on Blu Ray and DVD.
The less than ideal box office situation will probably mean that Warner Media will keep the film on VOD for as long as it can in order to try and make up for their losses. While it does seem like Tenet will come to live on HBO Max when it becomes ready to join the ranks of the streaming wars, it may take a while for it to arrive on the WarnerMedia owned service.
