Good Netflix shows from 2020

1. To The Lake

There are so many Netflix shows that it’s easy to miss the foreign programs that make their way to the streaming service from all around the world. One title that may not have made everyone’s watch list this past year is the Russian series Epidemiya or To The Lake. This chart-topping ordeal offered up an engaging tale of survival during, of all things, a deadly pandemic. Those infected have read eyes and experience irrational and hostile behavior. They are marked with unremovable white paint before being taken to quarantine facilities where no one is ever heard from again. The story follows two families who attempt to survive the chaos of the situation while having to endure each other as well. Death squads, paranoia, and betrayal all continuously eclipse the threat of the virus every episode resulting in an experience that is just as captivating as it is unnerving.

It’s no wonder many people probably passed on this show given the isolating year everyone has had thanks to the COVID-19 situation. To The Lake may have hit a little too close to home several times throughout the series, and its understandable people didn’t want to escape reality with a worst-case scenario of what they were going through. But now that some time has passed, it may be a good time to revisit the thrilling sci-fi drama.
