Who is Eddie Munson in Stranger Things season 4?

Stranger Things season 4 is coming to Netflix soon! Fans are starting to wonder about some of the new cast members, including Joseph Quinn who plays Eddie Munson in Stranger Things season 4.

At the end of 2020, Netflix announced several new members of the Stranger Things season 4 cast on Twitter. Among those was Joseph Quinn.

According to a report from TV Line, Quinn is playing Eddie Munson, the head of the Hawkins High School Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) club, The Hellfire Club.

Stranger Things shared the new cast members back in November on Twitter.

Quinn is described as, via TV Line:

"“an audacious 80’s metalhead who runs The Hellfire Club, Hawkins High’s official D&D club. Hated by those who don’t understand him — and beloved by those who do — Eddie will find himself at the terrifying epicenter of this season’s mystery.”"

That’s the most comprehensive description of the new characters joining season 4 so far. Quinn’s character is a series regular in season 4, so we know that we’re going to be seeing a lot of him in the new season.

From the looks of things, it appears that Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) is part of The Hellfire Club. So, that means we’ll likely get to see Eddie and Dustin and Mike and Lucas interact in the new season. We don’t know if any of the other characters will be in The Hellfire Club.

We know D&D is a major part of Stranger Things, and the new season is leaning even more into the D&D elements than ever before. We don’t really know what that means, but the only two clips we’ve seen of season 4 so far are Hopper in Russia and dice rolling across an epic D&D board. So, yeah, you can pretty much count on a lot of D&D action this season.

When Hopper was confirmed to be alive, the Duffer Brothers said this, via IndieWire:

"“Meanwhile, back in the states, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long buried, something that connects everything.”"

Now, looking at both of those things, the Eddie Munson character description and the Duffer Brothers’ statement about season 4, it appears that Eddie Munson is going to be a central character in discovering whatever it is that is coming to the “surface,” “long buried,” and connecting everything.

Count me in!

The Duffer Brothers and the creative team surely have some major surprises in store. They’re not going to give away the whole mystery in a statement and a character description.

With that said, it is interesting to see how another new character will find themselves in the middle of the season’s big mystery. We saw this happen with Robin in season 3. I wasn’t sure which direction the series would go, but it’s clear now that it’s going bigger and pulling more people into this mess between the Mind Flayer and the Hawkins Heroes. Assuming that is what the season will be about, of course.

I can’t wait to see Eddie Munson and how this character will be involved in the new season.
