Here are 5 great Netflix shows to watch this weekend including, Bridgerton.

Welcome to 2021, a year with a lot to live up to, considering what we went through in the past year.  This weekend you may just want to spend some quiet time planning out what you hope to achieve this year and focus on the positive to gear up for whatever this year will bring us. And, there is always some downtime to explore some great Netflix shows.

Many great selections are coming in January, and below we will look at five great shows to watch this weekend.

Bridgerton

This series hit Netflix on Christmas day and has been sitting high on the top 10 list since its release. Bridgerton is a series based on a series of Regency Romance novels by Juia Quinn.

For fans of Regency-era novels, this series is exactly what we could hope for. The lavish costumes, the excess, the intrigue and don’t forget the romance. This series follows the Bridgerton family, which consists of eight children and their widowed mother. The first season is focused on the eldest daughter and her search for a husband.

The great thing about this series is that even tho it is set in this era, it does bring in modern diversity, giving it a timeless feel.

If you are a fan of the Regency Era, do check this series out.

Cobra Kai

Fans of the Karate Kid movies from the 80s probably never thought there would be a possibility of a continuation of this story. Cobra Kai not only brings back the story but also two of the main characters from the original, Ralph Macchio and William Zabka.

The third season of the series released on New Year’s Day and is already number one on the top 10 Netflix list for this weekend. Fans were delighted to hear that this series was renewed for a fourth season ahead of the third season release.

This series takes place 30 years after the All Valley Karate Tournament from the original films. Johnny (Zabka) finds himself down and out when he decides to reopen the Cobra Kai dojo. This, of course, puts his old rivalry with Daniel (Macchio), who has become a success in his adult life but struggles to maintain a balance that he received from the mentorship of Mr. Miyagi.

Fans of the original films are excited about this series, and it has been well received by fans and critics alike. Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 95% on its Tomatometer.

Dream Home Makeover: Season 2

Makeover and home improvement shows are always a big hit. It is fun to see these homes transform into something magnificent. Dream Home Makeover just released its second season on Netflix.

This series makes families’ dreams of a unique and personalized home come true. The McGees, a husband and wife duo, grew their business via social media, and it has grown into this series.

It is typical of many of the current makeover series, a husband and wife creating a business together, making others’ dreams come true. At the same time, they juggle their business, their family, and their own dream home makeover. But, each series showcases the hosts’ unique qualities, and it is always interesting to see where their creativity will take the home renovations.

Netflix is smart to throw their hat in the ring of these types of shows as they are wildly popular and gives people a fun escape.

Best Leftovers Ever!

Leftovers, people are divided, some people love them, and others won’t even hear of ingesting them. Best Leftovers Ever is a series that focuses on leftovers and uses them in a cooking competition.

This competition pits three home chefs up against one another to see who can create something magnificent out of leftovers. This might seem like an easy feat, but it’s not. Have you ever tried taking leftovers from your refrigerator and create something your family will actually eat?

The chefs have 30 minutes to use the leftovers they are given and any items available in the pantry to create something appetizing.

It is a great spin on the usual food competition Netflix shows, and it may just inspire you actually to use the leftovers in your own fridge.

Broadchurch

This series isn’t a new series, but it is a hidden gem many viewers are unaware of. Broadchurch is a British crime drama that originally aired between 2013 and 2017. There are a total of three seasons in this series.

This series stars David Tennant (Dr. Who) and Olivia Colman (The Crown) as detectives who live in the fictional town of Broadchurch. They are joined by Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan, Arthur Darvill, Carolyn Pickles, Matthew Gravelle and Charlotte Beaumont.

If you are a fan of crime dramas and have never watched this series, you should check it out.

Have a wonderful weekend, and enjoy some of these binge-worthy Netflix shows.
