Why It’s Underrated: There’s a whole other world on Netflix that you might not know about unless you have children or you are one. The animated children’s programming on the streaming giant is perhaps one of the most successful sectors with dozens of original series. Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, Netflix’s latest animated hit, comes as a spin-off of the Jurassic World franchise. The companion series premiered in fall 2020 and achieved success, though remaining underrated to the Netflix binge-watching public at large.

Taking place within the events of the first Jurassic World film, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous follows six teenagers as they find themselves stranded on Isla Nublar along with many dinosaurs that have escaped from their enclosures. Suddenly, their exciting camp adventure becomes a fight for survival as the six strangers are quickly thrust together and bonded over their mutual mission to outwit and outrun the threatening dinosaur life on Isla Nublar.

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous made its Netflix debut in September and attracted mixed by mostly positive reception from critics, holding a 75% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Although the series falls somewhere in the middle ground between tweens and teens, it’s still approachable enough to watch with your kids, niece or nephew and still find yourself enthralled in the thrilling animated adventures on Isla Nublar. Picked up for a second season to bow in 2021, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous might have hit with the kid crowd, but it’s an underrated Jurassic Park entry.
