Is Stranger Things season 4 canceled or delayed?
Stranger Things season 4 is officially in the works at Netflix. The streaming network renewed Stranger Things for season 4 way back in September 2019, a few months after the release of season 3 on July 4, 2019.
So, yes, Stranger Things season 4 has been officially confirmed by Netflix. Now, we just have to wait until the new season is released on the streaming service.
Fans were hoping to see Stranger Things season 4 on Netflix in 2020, but that didn’t happen.
In early 2020, some of the Stranger Things cast and crew traveled to Europe to start filming season 4. On Valentine’s Day, we got to see some of the Stranger Things season 4 footage that was filmed in Europe, which confirmed Hopper (David Harbour) is still alive.
Filming started in Georgia shortly after, but it was quickly shut down in March because of the pandemic. The production stoppage lasted until the end of September. The cast and crew returned to Atlanta to finish filming season 4.
At some point, production is moving to New Mexico to finish the fourth season.
Overall, the series has been delayed about six months.
We’re expecting season 4 to be released on Netflix in late 2021. Hopefully, production will wrap in early 2021 and that release date will remain a possibility.
We’ll let you know more about the Stranger Things season 4 release date when we find out!
Is Stranger Things season 5 happening?
Stranger Things season 5 is happening. In a recent interview, the Duffer Brothers said that the fourth season will not be the final season of the series. So, that means season 5 is happening.
Netflix has not confirmed Stranger Things season 5 yet. That likely won’t happen until after season 4 is released on the streaming service. Even though we know season 5 is happening, Netflix likes to make it a big deal with a social media video and announcement.
We’ll let you know more about Stranger Things season 4 and season 5 soon.
