14. The Injury (season 2 episode 12)

Michael Scott grilled his foot on his George Foreman Grill (which he keeps next to his bed) while making bacon. For that and that alone, this is one of the best episodes of The Office ever. Imagine, your boss comes into the office with his foot wrapped and you ask what’s wrong and he says that. It’s as funny as it is immensely tragic.

When Michael calls in to tell them all about his injury, Dwight loses it and immediately goes to come to his rescue. Unfortunately, Dwight hits a pole with his car but instead of going to the hospital, he just goes back to work. But he’s not the same Dwight we all know. He’s friendly and easy-going. So much so that he and Pam become friends.

When Michael gets upset that more people are upset about Dwight’s injury than his, he calls in Billy Merchant, the building’s property manager who is disabled. He talks about what it’s like as a disabled person, but ultimately leaves when Michael, to no one’s surprise, makes several offensive remarks. But before he leaves, Billy tells Jim that Dwight definitely has a concussion.

So off to the hospital they go! They take Meredith’s van and Jim has to keep squirting Dwight with water to get him away from the alcohol on the floor of the van. Once they get to the hospital, Michael tries to make it all about him but is unsuccessful.

This episode is one of the best because of all the shenanigans that take place. It would have been one of the best if it just had Michael grilling his foot, but the change in Dwight’s personality and the trip to the hospital makes it even more memorable.
