4. Ratched

Premiere date: Sept. 18, 2020

Show description: Ratched follows Nurse Ratched, the infamous and evil asylum nurse some may remember from the film (and novel of the same name) One Flew Over the  Cuckoo’s Nest.

Before Nurse Ratched became so horrid, she was compassionate and kind. Ratched explores her early days as a nurse.

Why it’s one of 2020’s best: Ratched is as beautiful as it is haunting! Ryan Murphy draws a crowd no matter which network he travels to. When it was announced that Murphy made a deal with Netflix to produce several shows (and films) fans were very excited.

Add to that the fact that Ratched stars Sarah Paulson and fans were all over the place with this one. Fortunately, it meets expectations, installing mystery, drama, and several questions for season two.

3. Never Have I Ever

Premiere date: April 27, 2020

Show description: Never Have I Ever follows Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), a first-generation Indian American girl who wants nothing more than to break from her strict traditions and upbringing.

Devi just wants to be a normal teenager with normal teenage experiences. But in her world, that’s easier said than done.

Why it’s one of 2020’s best: Are we truly surprised to see another coming-of-age drama on this list? These may fall under the same genre, sure, but Never Have I Ever is the most unique so far.

For starters, it celebrates diversity! It’s about time there’s a splash of color in the TV world, and one with a modern take, too! There’s also the fact that the series was co-created by Lang Fisher and Mindy Kaling, enough said!
