10. The Queen’s Gambit

Premiere date: Oct. 23, 2020

Show description: The coming-of-age period drama follows Beth, (Anya Taylor-Joy), an orphaned competitive chess prodigy who is used to being alone. She’s determined to be the ultimate chess champion, but will her dependency on drugs and alcohol stop her?

The miniseries also stars Christiane Seidel, Bill Camp, Moses Ingram, and others.

Why it’s one of 2020’s best: Coming-of-age dramas usually do great at Netflix, and this period drama is no less! Breakout star Anya Taylor-Joy captivated us all with her fun performance.

One view of the trailer and audiences were rushing to watch! How many audiences? Reportedly, over 60 million households tuned in to watch during the first 28 days of its premiere.

Unfortunately, since it premiered as a miniseries, chances are there won’t be a second season. But with Netflix, you never know!

9. Emily in Paris

Show description:  Lily Collins stars as the charming and curious Emily, an American who moves to Paris for work as she is tasked with providing a French marketing firm an American point of view to target more clients. Emily in Paris also stars Phillippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, and others.

Why it’s one of 2020’s best: Netflix are suckers for a fun comedy-drama, and Emily in Paris truly delivers. At first glance, you may get The Devil Wears Prada meets Sex and the City vibes, but Emily in Paris walks to its own beat.

Don’t expect a groundbreaking series that will have you thinking much, Emily in Paris is simply addicting and fun to binge-watch — which is all we needed in 2020.
