5 must-watch shows on Netflix this weekend, including Selena: The Series

The holiday season is upon us as we enter the first weekend of December. This year things will look much different regarding the holidays, but hopefully, you can come up with some creative ways to celebrate. One fun idea is to host watch parties with your friends and families, and there are many must-watch shows on Netflix. 

This weekend you might be looking for the next new show to stream on Netflix. Below is a list of some of the top shows you can watch this weekend.

Selena: The Series

The series that is based on the life of Tejano music icon Selena has been released. It has already made it to the number spot on the Netflix top ten tv shows. Selena: The Series is another look into the life of this talented woman and her short life.

In 1997 Jennifer Lopez portrayed Selena in a film about the life and death of the performer. Now, Christian Serratos (The Walking Dead) is playing Selena in a series that focuses on her rise to fame.

Serratos is joined by Gabriel Chavarria, Ricardo Chavira, Noemi Gonzales and Seidy Lopez. Selena’s father, Abraham Quintanilla and her sister Suzette were closely involved with this series’s development.

Fans of the singer are excited to get another look into her life and her rise to fame.

Big Mouth

The Netflix original series Big Mouth recently released its fourth season. After the release of this new season, it shot to the number two position on Netflix’s top 10 TV shows.

This wildly popular adult animated sitcom has already been renewed for two additional seasons. Fans of the series often comment on how each season just gets better than the last.

The actors voicing the characters in this series include Nick, Kroll. John Mulaney, Jessi Kelin, Jason Mantzoukas, Fred Armisen, Maya Rudolph and Jordan Peele. Guest stars for the series include Seth Rogan, Sterling K Brown and John Oliver.

Alien Worlds

A new series on Netflix, Alien Worlds is a sci-fi nature docu-series that blends scientific fact and some fiction to look at how life might be on other planets.

The four-part series is narrated by Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda) and uses CGI to imagine what alien life might be like. Decider has compared it to a BBC nature show paired with a B-grade sci-fi series.

This one of the must-watch shows on Netflix is a fun look at how life could be on planets outside our universe.

It can be a good escape from our current situation here on earth.

The Great British Baking Show: Holidays

Baking is oftentimes synonymous with the holiday season. The Great British Baking Show: Holiday is sure to be an inspiration for any holiday baking you plan on doing.

This version of the popular baking competition show is a more laid back version for the holidays. Four previous contests compete with their amazing holiday-themed creations. Paul and Prue return as judges and Noel and Sandi will again serve as hosts for the two-episode holiday special.

This season previously aired in the UK in 2019, but it was just released in the US this week.

It is a much more relaxed version of the original series with the holidays’ magic added in.

The Holiday Movies That Made Us

This is a new series that is an extension of the Netflix series The Movies That Made Us. Like the original, The Holiday Movies That Made Us looks at some holiday films and the appeal that has made these movies modern classics.

This two-episode holiday special features two popular Christmas movies, Elf and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Each episode will include BTS footage and cast and crew interviews. It is a fun look at two great holiday films and what makes them so popular.
