What is Alien Worlds on Netflix about?

Alien Worlds is going to be unlike any nature documentary Netflix has ever offered before

In the trailer for Alien Worlds, among the questions the narrator poses are: “What sort of alien life might exist in the vastness of space?” and “How might life adapt on a different world?”

That’s the essence of what the documentary will explore when it premieres among the Netflix new releases in December.  You can watch the new doc on Netflix on Tuesday, Dec. 2. The streaming network will be venturing into unchartered territory with the speculative nature series.

Speculative? As in science fiction?

Oh, yeah. You read that right. It looks wild! Like Nature on PBS meets Star Wars and Avatar.

"Applying the laws of life on Earth to the rest of the galaxy, this series blends science fact and fiction to imagine alien life on other planets."

Alien Worlds episodes

There are four episodes in the first season. It’s not clear yet, however, if they’ll be half-hour or hour-long episodes.

They’ll also blend footage, descriptions and information about real-world animals and creatures with CGI renderings of scenes depicting space, other planets and the life that may inhabit them.

The series is narrated by English film actor Sophie Okonedo, who was nominated for an Oscar for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for her part as Tatiana Rusesabagina in Hotel Rwanda. However, one of the more recent roles that Netflix viewers may recognize her from was as Charlotte Wells in Ratched.

The documentary series is among the new movies and shows coming to Netflix in December. You’ll be able to start streaming it on Dec. 2 on Netflix.
