Looking for action this holiday season? Then you might want to check out The 2nd on Netflix.

Starring Ryan Phillippe, Casper Van Dien, and Jack Griffo, this action-packed film is becoming a fast favorite with Netflix audiences as of late. If you head to the streaming service, you’ll see that it recently snagged the #3 spot on Netflix’s Top 10 list, making it an unexpected favorite this year.

As Collider reports, this explosion-packed cinema experience was directed by Brian Skiba, who has been called a “prolific genre filmmaker” for his work in the action movie world. He’s best known for films like Blood Moon Rising and Dirty Little Trick.

While reviews amongst critics are somewhat mixed, audiences don’t seem to mind ithe movie’s shortcomings. Perhaps it’s because a classic action movie starring Ryan Phillippe has been long overdue and maybe, just maybe, nobody is taking this one too seriously.

So what’s all the fuss about with The 2nd, you ask? Let’s look into it.

The 2nd on Netflix synopsis

As noted in PureWow, the film’s title is referencing the second amendment of the United States Constitution. Considering the premise, that makes a lot of sense. Ryan Phillippe stars as Vic, a Secret Service agent with his work cut out for him. Vic is launched into action when he realizes he must rescue his son’s love interest from a potential kidnapping plot that continues to thicken, putting all of them in danger.

Netflix describes the plot as:

"A Secret Service agent is drawn into a terrorist plot when his son’s classmate, the daughter of a Supreme Court Justice, is targeted for kidnapping."

Ready to watch this action thriller film released this year? You’re in luck! The 2nd is now streamable on Netflix.
