Netflix shows we missed in 2020: The Witcher season 2

This one really hurts. Season 1 of The Witcher was one of the best shows of last year and while there were hopes of a season 2 coming soon, with the pandemic, it just wasn’t meant to be. It sounds like season 2 was always going to be released in 2021, but these delays aren’t helping.

The Witcher was one of the first shows to start up production again once it looked like the number of COVID cases was waning. With this start-and-stop pattern that seems to be happening for most shows that have decided to film through the pandemic, it’s likely we won’t get a season 2 of The Witcher until spring or summer of 2021 at the earliest.

While the cast and crew were filming, there have been a few updates from Henry Cavill’s Instagram and the official Witcher social media accounts, but other than that, everything has been kept pretty much under wraps.

If you’ve been living under a rock and/or haven’t watched the show yet, the cast includes Henry Cavill, Freya Allen, Yasen Atour, Basil Eidenbenz, Anya Chalotra, Mimi Ndiweni, Meci Simson, and Eamon Farren. Based on the books Andrzej Sapkowski, the story follows Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Ciri as they travel through the world that’s quickly dissolving into devastation and war.

More than 76 million households watched the first season making it the most-watched first season of a show on Netflix ever. While we aren’t getting season 2 this year, based on the first season, it will be worth the wait.
