What is The Hellfire Club in Stranger Things season 4?

We just learned a ton of information about the Stranger Things season 4 story. Netflix announced the list of new characters in Stranger Things season 4 and shared a bit of information about each character.

In the character descriptions shared by Stranger Things/Netflix, we finally learned about The Hellfire Club is.

The Hellfire Club is the Hawkins High School D&D club!

We had a lot of theories about what The Hellfire Club could be. Was it a rival gang to our Hawkins Heroes? Was it some group that was going to target Eleven?

While I guess it could still be both, it feels a little less threatening.

Stranger Things announced Joseph Quinn will star as Eddie Munson, who is the leader of The Hellfire Club, which happens to be the school’s official D&D club, according to the show’s official Twitter account.

TV Line describes Eddie this way:

"Hated by those who don’t understand him — and beloved by those who do — Eddie will find himself at the terrifying epicenter of this season’s mystery."

We’ve already seen a clip of The Hellfire Club in action, at least we think that’s what is happening. On Stranger Things Day, the Stranger Things Twitter accounts shared a clip of dice rolling across an impressive D&D board.

We also learned on Stranger Things Day that Dustin, and likely the rest of The Party, are members of The Hellfire Club. Gaten Matarazzo was in videos and photos wearing a Hellfire Club t-shirt and flying a Hellfire Club flag.

The Hellfire Club will be a really big part of the season. It’s also the name of the first episode of Stranger Things season 4. I’m already concerned about Eddie. Nothing good happens for characters who are at the “terrigying epicenter” for anything. Eddie is quickly moving up the list of characters most likely to die in Stranger Things season 4.

Stranger Things season 4 is in being filmed right now in Georgia. Production moves to New Mexico later this year.

We’re hoping to see Stranger Things season 4 on Netflix sometime in 2021.
