The Office is leaving Netflix next month

When is The Office leaving Netflix?
We have some sad news for The Office fans. The Office is officially leaving Netflix, and it’s leaving Netflix soon.
How soon?
Well, you have about one more month of watching The Office on Netflix. It’s expected that The Office is leaving Netflix on Dec. 31, 2020. That’ll be the last day to watch the series on the streaming service.
On Jan. 1, 2021, The Office will be moving to Peacock, the new NBCU streaming service.
It hasn’t been confirmed that The Office will be leaving Netflix on Dec. 31. Netflix has not officially confirmed that news, but that’s what has been reported by a number of respected outlets. And, it just makes sense.
When Netflix announced the news that The Office is leaving Netflix, the tweet said you’ll be able to watch The Office on Netflix “until January 2021.”
I think “until” is the most important part of that tweet. It seems to me that means you can watch the series until 2021, which means that as soon as it’s 2021, The Office will no longer be available to stream on Netflix.
If you’re going to watch The Office before it leaves Netflix, you need to start your binge-watch or restart the series for the millionth time in the near future, preferably Thanksgiving week, to make sure you have enough time to finish it.
It’s unclear if The Office is going to come back to Netflix. Peacock will have the streaming rights to The Office for the next five years. So, unless Peacock goes the way of Quibi or re-licenses the rights (can they even do that?), The Office will not be on Netflix until, at the earliest, 2026.
Who knows what the streaming landscape will look like at that point? Netflix might not even want the show at that point.
For now, you’re running out of time to watch The Office! What are you still reading this for? Seriously, go watch The Office. Now.
Wait! Before you go, Netflix just renewed a show from Steve Carell and The Office creator Greg Daniels. Space Force season 2 is happening at Netflix.
