Do you recall the most famous reindeer of all? Who doesn’t? The better question this holiday season is whether or not we can watch Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer on Netflix.

While this may be one of the most well-known Christmas tales of all time, the plot and unforgettable claymation remains forever popular Christmas after Christmas. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer is also one of the longest and most beloved Christmas specials to air annually, beginning its famous run back in 1964.

So let’s go over what happens.

What is Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer about?

As the old story goes, it’s up to Rudolph to save the day and guide the sleigh when the evil ice queen Stormella conjures up a storm on Christmas. But for young Rudolph, it’s also a coming of age tale with a moral to the story.

Rudolph grows up being embarrassed of his red nose, the very thing that makes him unique and special. And so, he chooses to hide his real nose under a fake nose in front of his peers, but the plan backfires.

While at flight practice, he meets his love interest, a doe named Clarice. When she compliments Rudolph, he’s able to fly. His fake nose also pops off, revealing his bright red and blinking nose. Dasher, Dancer, and all of the others start mocking him just as he feared they would.

Rudolph runs away with a friend, Hermey the Elf, who also feels like an outcast. There’s quite the magical journey from there, but I won’t spoil all the hilarious, heartwarming, and iconic moments in between if you haven’t seen this one yet.

In the end, Rudolph not only saves Christmas and guides the sleigh like a champ, but he also learns self acceptance and confidence. What more could you want or need?

Where to stream Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

Unfortunately, you cannot stream the movie on Netflix. But that doesn’t mean everyone’s favorite reindeer and his very shiny nose won’t find its way to the streaming service at some point in the future. After all, anything is possible with enough Christmas spirit.

Still, there’s some good news here. Currently, you can buy this iconic Christmas favorite on Vudu here. Be sure to check out the trailer while you’re at it. It’s totally worth it, I promise.
