What is The Hellfire Club in Stranger Things season 4?

H is for Hellfire Club.

Many Stranger Things fans probably have no idea what that is, and that’s okay. Last Stranger Things Day, we learned that the title of the first episode of Stranger Things season 4 is “The Hellfire Club.”

This is a big deal for a number of reasons, but mostly, it hints at another X-Men/Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix storyline. There are already many similarities between Eleven and Jean Grey and Stranger Things and The Dark Phoenix Saga.

For those who don’t know, The Hellfire Club is a group of villains from X-Men. In The Dark Phoenix Saga, they kidnapped Jean Grey, who became Phoenix at that point in time, and basically tortured her to try and control her. She’d be the ultimate weapon. Their plan backfires, though, and the Dark Phoenix takes over.

We don’t know for sure, but there could be some parallels between Eleven’s trauma and the trauma Jean Grey suffered. If that’s true, a Dark Eleven could be in play in Stranger Things season 4.

This could also just be a reference to another club in Hawkins or somewhere else. The Party often uses pop culture and D&D references to understand the world they live in.

Either way, this might not be good for the Hawkins Heroes. We’ll find out more soon, hopefully.
