Was Grigori a Russian super-soldier?

G is for Grigori, the Russian soldier and assassin that beat the crap out of Hopper in Stranger Things season 3. Played by Andrey Ivchenko, Grigori is Hopper’s main foe in the season.

We first meet Grigori in the opening scene when he strangles the Russian scientist who failed to open the gate to the Upside Down. Later, we see him beat up Hopper at the Hawkins National Lab. He tries to hunt down Hopper and Joyce after they kidnap Alexei.

Eventually, they meet in the Russian base with Hopper on the wrong side of the glass. Hopper finally gets the upper hand and knocks Grigori into the machine keeping the gate to the Upside Down cracked open. He dies.

There’s been some chatter about Grigori after the season, and it has to do with his powers. He seemed exceptionally strong. We have to wonder if he has some kind of super-strength. If he is, that means Russia probably has people with powers, too.

Eleven might have her hands full in the coming season if that’s true.

We don’t know for sure if he had super-strength, but it’s definitely concerning if you’re rooting for the Americans and the Hawkins Heroes in the future of Stranger Things.
