Can X-Men’s Dark Phoenix Saga be used to predict Eleven’s fate?

X is for X-Men, of course, and there are a lot of X-Men parallels in Stranger Things, especially when you start looking at Eleven and the Jean Grey comparisons.

There are many theories about Jean Grey inspiring Eleven and the first season following, somewhat, to the Dark Phoenix Saga. If you’re a believer in those theories, you’re probably feeling pretty good knowing that the first episode of the season is titled “The Hellfire Club.”

The Hellfire Club plays a major role in the Dark Phoenix Saga. I don’t want to spoil anything for those who don’t know anything about it, but basically, it has to do with the Phoenix Force which takes over Jean Grey, basically, before it becomes the Dark Phoenix, an unstoppable force.

There are some who think Eleven could follow a similar path and turn into Dark Eleven in the last few seasons of the series. I’m not saying that will happen, but there are some big similarities between the two characters and the stories.

It should be noted that the stories are very different so far. That could change as the series goes on, of course. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens in Stranger Things season 4.
