Stranger Things star to appear with her father in new movie
It’s a family affair for Stranger Things’ Maya Hawke and father Ethan Hawke
Maya Hawke is teaming up with her father Ethan Hawke for Revolver, a romantic comedy set in 1966. The Stranger Things star has been cast as Jane, a teen who sets her mind on the impossible: Losing her virginity to the Beatles’ George Harrison.
Revolver takes place in Anchorage, Alaska, where a plane carrying the Beatles is forced to land while en route to Japan. As the residents deal with having the most popular band on the planet in their city, Jane decides that she’s going to offer up her v-card to the Quiet Beatle, George Harrison. It’s an ambitious plan, to be sure, but she has her mind set. This quirky coming of age romantic comedy will feature Andrew Stanton as the director and Ross Jacobson and Jen Dana serving as producers.
Maya Hawke joined the Stranger Things cast in season 3. She said that her character, Robin Buckley, evolved over time once she started preparing for the role. Robin was supposed to be goth and dark, but her personality is optimistic and bright so Robin changed a bit as a result. Revolver will be a chance for Maya Hawke to reunite with Stranger Things writer Kate Trefry.
This isn’t the first time Maya has appeared with a member of her talented family (her mother is Uma Thurman, of course) – her brother Levon Thurman Hawke has reportedly been cast in the show’s upcoming fourth season as a punk rocker. While Netflix hasn’t confirmed the news as yet, Levon seemed to confirm it on his social media.
Filming for Stranger Things is in the process of restarting after being shut down due to the pandemic, and though work will resume on season 4 there will be a delay before fans return to the Upside Down any time soon.
