Stranger Things cast: Cary Elwes

Cary Elwes was a welcome addition to Stranger Things season 3. Elwes did not appear in the first two seasons of the hit Netflix series, but he did have a big role in the third season.

Elwes starred as Larry Kline, the mayor of Hawkins, Indiana. Mayor Kline, as far as we know, is still alive after the events of Stranger Things season 3. Mayor Kline approved the Starcourt Mall plans and “leaned on” a few Hawkins residents to sell their property, which opened the door to the Russians to build the base under the Starcourt Mall.

He was not one of the flayed, so there’s still a chance that he could return in other seasons of Stranger Things… if he wasn’t murdered by the Russians for his involvement in the destruction of the Starcourt Mall.

As you may recall, he was arrested at the end of the season for his corrupt practices, so he’s definitely not still the mayor of Hawkins.

Long before he played Kline in Stranger Things, Elwes was saving Princess Buttercup from Prince Humperdinck in The Princess Bride, which premiered in 1987 and launched Elwes’s acting career. In the film, Elwes stars as Westley.

This is one of the most iconic movies of all time, and it’s must-watch for any Stranger Things fans.
