5 great shows on Netflix this weekend, including Dawson’s Creek and more

It’s the final weekend of October and Netflix gave us many great shows this month but November also promises many great new choices. Be sure to check out the top ten list on Netflix to see which new shows you haven’t watched yet.

Below we have a rundown of some excellent choices to help you have some downtime this weekend.

Dawson’s Creek

Fans of the ’90s series Dawson’s Creek will be happy to see all six seasons of the series releases on Nov. 1. This series was very popular with teens and followed a group of kids starting out in high school and following them into college. The series aired from 1998-2003.

This series was a stepping stone for a big list of actors and starred James Van Der Beek, Michelle Williams, Joshua Jackson, Katie Holmes, Mary-Margaret Humes, John Wesley Shipp, Mary Beth Peil, Nina Repeta, Kerr Smith, Meredith Monroe and Busy Philipps.

The series was created by Kevin Williamson, who is also responsible for The Vampire Diaries, The Following and he developed the screenplay for the Scream movies (original, 2 and 4).

Agents of SHIELD

Season 7 of Agents of SHIELD is now available for streaming on Netflix. This marks the final season for the series.

This series isn’t highly involved in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it does follow the film franchise’s events. It is based on the SHIELD organization and is a super-hero drama.

The series stars Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Elizabeth Henstridge, Henry Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley and Jeff Ward.

Even though this season was the lowest viewership of the series when it aired on ABC, reviewers have given it positive comments regarding the series’s conclusion.

The Queen’s Gambit

The Queen’s Gambit recently released its first season and found itself sitting in the number two spot of Netflix’s top ten list.

The Queen’s Gambit is the oldest opening chess move that sacrifice’s a pawn to gain control of the board’s center. The series follows chess prodigy Beth Harmon (Anya Taylor-Joy) from the age of eight to her quest to become the world’s greatest chess player.

The series is based on Walter Tevis’s novel of the same name. Netflix has been very successful with its book to series/movie selections.  This series is receiving rave reviews. Rotten Tomatoes has given it a 100% ranking.

Be sure to check this on out.

Emily in Paris

If you haven’t had a chance to watch Emily in Paris and are fond of rom-coms, be sure to give this a watch.

Lily Collins stars as the title character, and the series follows her on her journey to a new marketing job located in Paris. She encounters tough co-workers who aren’t too sure about an American coming into their firm to give them her perspective of their work.

She does befriend Mindy Chen (Ashely Park), who is a refreshing change of pace to the other people she has met in Paris.

Of course, there is also the gorgeous neighbor Gabriel, who, of course, has a girlfriend.

The series received mixed reviews, but it is just what a rom-com should be, light and fun and makes you feel good while watching.

Schitt’s Creek

The wildly popular Schitt’s Creek has all six seasons available to stream on Netflix.

This series has received great reviews and the season finale cleaned house at the 72nd Annual Emmy Awards. It has received much praise for its writing, humor and acting.

Starring a great line up consisting of Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Dan Levy, Annie Murphy, Jennifer Robertson, Tim Rozon, Emily Hampshire, Dustin Milligan, John Hemphill, Karen Robinson, Sarah Levy, Chris Elliott and Noah Reid.

If you are in the mood for some great laughs, be sure to check this one out.

Ash vs. Evil Dead

Since it is Halloween weekend, the list wouldn’t be complete without something in the horror genre. Ash vs. Evil Dead is a series in the Evil Dead franchise.

There are three seasons available on Netflix and season one picks up 30 years after the first three Evil Dead films. We find our hero Ash (Bruce Campbell) working at the local Value Stop as a stock boy. He will have a new quest for our hero and he will be joined by his co-workers Pablo (Ray Santiago) and Kelly (Dana Delorenzo).

It has received great reviews even from fans of the original Evil Dead movies. That is sometimes hard to come by with a movie turned into a series.

Have a great weekend and share in the comments below what you are watching this weekend on Netflix.
