Easy A starring Emma Stone is coming to Netflix tonight
Is Easy A on Netflix?
One of the best rom-coms in the past decade and the film that began the journey of making Emma Stone a household name, Easy A is one of those movies that you forget about until you watch it again and remember how wonderful it is. And luckily, it’s coming to Netflix on Sunday, Nov. 1!
It will hit the streaming service at midnight Pacific time. If you stay up late on Halloween, you can start watching the hit movie on Netflix.
Besides Emma Stone, the movie stars Penn Badgley, Amanda Bynes, Thomas Hayden Church, Patricia Clarkson, Stanley Tucci, Aly Michalka, Malcolm McDowell, and Lisa Kudrow. It’s no wonder this movie is so good with this crazy amazing cast. Stanley Tucci, Patricia Clarkson, Lisa Kudrow, and Emma Stone in one film!
Easy A is also definitely one of a few rom-coms that’s equal parts funny and romantic. If you haven’t seen it (what?), let’s go through a quick summary. it’s the story of a teenage girl, Olive, who gets caught in the rumor mill at her high school when she lies to her best friend about having sex with a college freshman. Once her high school gets hold of the lie, they run with it and start treating her differently.
To her infinite surprise, she actually likes the attention. She starts to wear more revealing clothing and even wears an A on her shirt as a callback to The Scarlet Letter that they’re all reading in their English class.
Things seem to be under control until Olive helps her best friend, Brandon, stop being bullied for being gay by pretending to sleep with him. After that moment, the attention becomes a bit more sinister and unwelcome. Other guys from Olive’s high school start coming up to her asking for the same fake “service” she provided her best friend. In return, she asks for gift cards, coupons, and discounts.
But things quickly start to get more and more out of control as her high school’s religious club, run by Marianne (played by Amanda Bynes) does whatever they can to get her expelled.
To get everything back she lost and to try to save herself, Olive sets up a webcam session and announces it to the whole school during an assembly. She makes it seem like it’s going to be a sex show. What it turns out to be is a confessional where she tells everyone the truth about everything she lied about.
But will she be forgiven, redeemed, and get everything she wants? You’ll have to watch and see if you don’t know already.
How this movie hasn’t been available to watch on Netflix all this time is a crime against rom-com fans everywhere. Whether you’re watching it for the first time or for the fiftieth, it’s definitely worth watching Easy A while it’s on Netflix.
