Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes

Ted Bundy is one of the most notorious serial killers in history, and it safe to assume that everyone has seen their fair share of related media regarding the subject. Netflix even released a dramatic biopic about the life of the menacing serial killer starring Zac Effron and Lily Collins called Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. That film was directed by Joe Berlinger, who also helmed a docuseries for the streamings service called Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes. Before the eyes roll at another intimate look at the famous murderer’s life, fans should realize that each of the four 60 minute episodes was sourced from over 100 hours of archival footage and interview tapes with Bundy conducted by Stephen Michaud in 1980 while Ted was on Death Row. It also includes interviews from surviving victims, Bundy’s family, friends, officers, and journalists discussing these horrible crimes and so much more.

The Netflix docuseries provides subscribers with a very intriguing look at Ted Bundy’s life, but more importantly, it takes a necessary look at his actions, including his crimes, prison escapes, and murders that shocked a nation. It’s one thing to watch a movie about the events that took place or to hear other people’s accounts during a documentary. But to listen to the words spoken right from the killer’s mouth is as addictive as it is cringeworthy. Subscribers that love enthralling docs or true crime stories would be hard-pressed not to sleep on Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes.
