Netflix’s Stranger Things has everything you could want in a science-fiction drama series. There are some otherworldly monsters, sinister men in black, and a mysterious girl with telepathic powers. However, the characters are truly the best part of Stranger Things.

Ultimately, the series is amazing because the characters all have such a great dynamic with one another. When Will is trapped in the Upside Down, each character is affected by his absence, which is the starting point for the whole story.

If you’re wondering if Will dies in Stranger Things, then you’ve come to the right place. If you’ve never seen the show before, there are major spoilers ahead!

What happens to Will in Stranger Things?

Although Will’s life hangs in the balance for most of season 1 and a lot of season 2, he has always survived with help from his loved ones.

Viewers will recall that after Will is kidnapped by the Demogorgon, several storylines are set into motion. Mike, (Finn Wolfhard) Dustin, (Gaten Matarazzo), and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) decide to search for their missing friend, only to stumble upon Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), who recently escaped from Hawkins Lab.

Joyce (Winona Ryder) is unable to accept her son’s death and believes that he is communicating with her via pulses in light bulbs. Chief Hopper (David Harbour) begins his own investigation into Hawkins Lab and eventually decides to help Joyce get her son back.

After Barb’s (Shannon Purser) disappearance, Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Johnathan (Charlie Heaton) make a pact to hunt and kill the Demogorgon before it claims anyone else.

Eleven is able to offer insight about the Upside Down and the monster within. Each group of characters is able to solve a piece of the puzzle, culminating in Will’s rescue and the Demogorgon’s demise. He also survives being possessed by the Mind Flayer in season 2.

Will is one tough kid!
