Netflix has officially renewed The Baby-Sitters Club for season 2

The babysitters are officially back. Netflix has renewed The Baby-Sitters Club for a second season, and the announcement was just as adorable as the series.

Fans learned the exciting news through Twitter, with the lead stars singing the theme song we’ve all come to know and love. They sang “and we’re getting a season 2,” making it clear why they had all got together.

There isn’t a release date just yet, but it will come sometime in 2021 with Rachel Shukert and Lucia Aniello back as showrunner and executive producer respectively.

All main female characters were part of the announcement: Sophie Grace, Malia Baker, Momona Tamada, Shay Rudolph, and Xochitl Gomez. Anais Lee and Vivian Watson were also part of the announcement. Their characters, Jessie and Mallory, were introduced toward the end of the season and made junior members of the Baby-Sitter’s Club after their willingness to help Kristy find her stepsister, Karen. They’ll both be part of the group in the second season judging by the announcement.

The announcement is so cute. All the girls lip-sync and dance along to the theme tune. It’s hard for them to contain the excitement that they’re coming back for a second season. And who can blame them?

The first season debuted on July 3, and we were starting to get a little worried about a cancellation. It usually takes a couple of months at the most for Netflix to announce renewals, so this is almost two months later. However, it sounds like work has been happening without anyone knowing based on a 2021 release date, according to Entertainment Weekly.

There are many stories still to tell from the novels. We’ll likely get a couple of episodes to introduce the two newer characters more, but there’s a chance for more inclusive storylines that the first season was praised for.
